80 Facts About the Queen

Today is Victoria’s Day but I really don’t know much about the Queen except the information that is in my grade 10 Canadian History textbook.  However, I did discover some interesting facts about Queen Elizabeth through her offical website.  To celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 80th birthday, a special section is created on her website that has 80 not commonly known facts about the Queen.  The following are a few facts that interest me:

The Queen’s real birthday is on April 21, but it is celebrated officially in June.

The Queen has sent around 100,000 telegrams to centenarians in the UK and the Commonwealth.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh have sent about 37,500 Christmas cards during The Queen’s reign.

The Queen has given out about 78,000 Christmas puddings to staff continuing the custom of King George V and King George VI. In addition, The Queen gives all her staff a gift at Christmas time.

The Queen was a Girl Guide (1937) and Sea Ranger (1943).

The Queen sent her first email in 1976 from an Army base.

Sweets Expo 2006

My sister and I went to the Sweets Expo on Sunday and it was a bit of a disappointment.  According to the website, the Sweets Expo is a celebration of Canada’s rich confectionary history that is hosted by candy manufacturers and retailers from around the globe.  However, there were just not a lot of booths that were really selling sweets.  There were quite a few booths that were promoting credit cards.  They offered me a student discount eventhough I am technically no longer a student. Regardless, I have bought some Russian chocolates and some honey from France.

Crazy about Sushi

Sushi Race Car

For some odd reason, I have this strange craving for sushi.  Maybe because the weather is getting warmer or maybe I just have this urge to be a little bit more healthy (feeling guilty that I have not been to swimming for almost half a month).  This craving has gone so insane that I have bought this strange racing sushi from a Japanese online store called JBOX (which is the same as JLIST but JLIST contains adult content).  This is not one of those high tech toys like the Tamagotchi which requires your undivided love and care.  This is just one of those old school racing pull back cars that are in the shape of sushi.  Each set contains two indentical cars, painted to resemble sushi in every way except with wheels on the bottom.  And each set also comes with a sushi plate which is a nice touch.  Why did I buy this?  I guess it does bring back some childhood memories and it might be able to curb my suchi cravings.

Form or Function?

Where are the numbers?

How far would you go to get something that has a beautiful but not necessarily sound in functionality?  Form vs functionality has been my biggest problem this weekend when I have decided that it is time for me to purchase a new watch.  There’s really nothing wrong with my old watch which has been with me for almost ten years.  It is just that the clasp is getting really loose and I am constantly worried that I might lose it eventually.  I have browsed the internet for quite sometime in order to search for a perfect time piece; however, I have found myself to be really picky and it took forever to find my perfect watch.

PersonalDNA - Your True Self Revealed

May 3, 2006 on 9:47 pm | In Personality Tests | Comments Off

I have posted an article on blood type and personality and it seems that quite a few people are interested in that.  Personality tests always have been popular.  I am not sure how accurate these tests are but they do help me to understand myself a little better and to discover how the rest of the world precieve me.

So, I am on a mission to find another interesting personality test.  Blogs are always a great source of information.  It is a great way to know what kind of exciting events are happening around you.  I have found another personality test called the “personal dna” on Amy’s blog.  According to the website, this test is actually designed by a team of professional psychologists.  Just be warn!  It has a lot of questions, so don’t do it if you are in a rush.  But I have to say, this test is not like any other personality tests.  The questions are presented in fun and interesting ways so that you will not feel bored and quit.

Concerned Creator

I have finished the test and the result says that I am a concerned creator!  You can do the test too at the personal dna website.
