Portfolio Site Version 1.0

Tools: Macrimedia Flash, PHP, mySQL, HTML, CSS

Introduction

This portfolio site is part of the course work that Jacqueline has done while she is completing her interactive multimedia program at Sheridan College. This is Jacqueline's first attempt to create a portal that features her own work.

Challenge

Jacqueline needs a website that showcases her work in multimedia, computer science, and project management. The website must be visually interesting, so that it will get the viewer's attention.

Solution

This website integrates design with interactivity by implementing features that encourage interaction beyond navigation. The website achieves that by imbedding interactive photographs in the main page of every section. Users can view an altered version of each photograph by moving their mouse on top of the image. By integrating the photographs with the overall design of the site, it encourages user interaction and at the same time, presents some of the portfolio pieces in an interesting way.

A game is included in the website where the user has to search for the guide which randomly appears on different pages in the site. This feature encourages users to browse through different sections of the site; thus, achieving the goal of a portfolio.

Another appealing feature of the website is the guestbook. It is different from a traditional guestbook in the way of how the entries are presented. Each entry in the guestbook is represented by a leaf where users can fill in their comments regarding the website. A behavior is dynamically attached to each leaf to achieve the effect of leafs floating around in a pond.

This website is awarded the winner of the Hamilton Artists Inc.'s "Interactive Interactive" show.
